Srami Mines & Minerals

Up in the hills of Chamoli, specifically in Ghuni, Ghat, is where Srami Mines & Minerals operates. It is a very different kind of workplace compared to the big city industrial zones. The air is thinner and the roads are narrow and winding. Getting minerals out of these areas requires a lot of patience and knowledge of the local terrain. We spend our time between the sites and our local base here. It is not an easy life because the weather can change in a minute and the rain can wash out the paths we use for transport. But we are used to it. The people here are tough and they know how to work with the land. Our daily routine involves a lot of walking and checking on the extraction points. We don't have a big shiny office; we mostly work out of small buildings that are built to withstand the mountain weather. There is a lot of silence here, broken only by the sound of tools and the occasional truck engine. We focus on the rocks and the minerals that we find in these mountains. It is a slow process sometimes, but it is honest work that keeps us connected to the earth. People in Ghat know who we are and they know we’ve been around for quite some time. We just keep our heads down and do what needs to be done, regardless of how cold or rainy it gets up here in the mountains.
