You will find J B Homewares up on the first floor of the Ambey Complex. We are at number 20. It is right on Najibabad Road here in Kotdwara. Being on the first floor means you have to walk up the stairs, but it is a good space once you are inside. We have a lot of different things for the house packed into the shop. It might look a bit crowded to some, but we know where everything is kept. From kitchen stuff to other household bits, we try to keep a variety on the shelves. Sometimes the stock changes based on what we can get in. It is a family-run kind of feel here. We do not use any fancy computer systems for everything; a lot of it is still done by hand. We like talking to the people who come in. Some of them have been buying from us since we first opened up in this complex. Najibabad Road is always noisy with trucks and cars, but inside it is a bit quieter. We spend our mornings unpacking boxes and moving things around. It is physical work. We do not have a big marketing budget or anything like that. We just open the doors and help whoever walks in. It is a simple life running a shop in Kotdwara. We just try to be fair and keep the shelves full. Some days are slow, but we stay busy cleaning or organizing the displays until someone stops by.
