About Chauhan bhojnalya – Tourism in Pauri Garhwal
Down here on Ram Jhulla Road in Swargashram, we have our small Chauhan bhojnalya. Rishikesh is always full of people traveling, and many of them find their way to us. We serve basic meals that fill the stomach. It’s not complicated food. We use what we find in the market that day. The building is old and the walls could use some fresh paint, but the kitchen is always busy. Being in the 249304 area means we see all kinds of people. Some are pilgrims and some are just passing through. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us doing the cooking and cleaning. There is no music playing here. Usually, you just hear the traffic outside and the sound of the stove. We don't take reservations or anything. You just show up and see if there is a stool free. Sometimes we run out of certain vegetables by late evening. That’s just how it goes when you cook fresh. We try to keep things tidy, but it's hard when it rains and people bring in mud. It's a humble place, honestly. We don't try to be anything else. Just a spot to get a hot plate of food after walking around the temples all day. It serves its purpose well enough for the locals and the visitors alike. We keep the water jugs filled on the tables so people can help themselves. It is a very simple way of doing things, but it works for us.
