Somu & Company

We are located at 568, right on the Srikakulam - Ichchapuram Hwy in Sasanam. Living and working so close to the highway means there is never a quiet moment. You can hear the big trucks downshifting as they come through Sasanam, and the windows rattle a little bit every time a heavy one goes by. Somu & Company is just a simple building. I spend a lot of time watching the traffic while I wait for folks to come in. The sun really hits the front of the shop in the morning, making it bright and warm inside. I have a small stool I sit on near the entrance. Most of the people who stop by are locals who live just off the main road, but occasionally we get someone traveling a long distance who needs a break. We try to keep the place organized, but with deliveries coming in at odd times, there are often stacks of things waiting to be put away. The floor is concrete and stays cool under your feet, which is nice when the humidity gets high. It’s a very basic setup here. We have some old ledgers on the desk and a calendar from three years ago that nobody bothered to take down because we liked the picture on it. It’s just how things are at the company. We stay open until the sun goes down and the highway lights come on.
