Our little hardware shop is located in Katpul South Mandiri. We are very close to the Durga Mandir, so during the festival times, it gets incredibly crowded around here with all the music and the people going to pray. On those days, it is hard to even get a cart through the street. The shop itself is packed with all sorts of things like nails, hammers, pipes, and different types of fittings. We try to keep it all sorted, but in a small space like this, things tend to get a bit cluttered. You might find a box of bolts sitting where the paint should be, but we usually know where everything is. It’s a local place, and we see the same faces every week coming in for a bit of wire or a new lock for their door. I usually sit on a wooden stool near the entrance so I can see everyone walking by. It is a bit dusty because of the old building, and the shelves are starting to sag a little under the weight of the tools, but it holds up. We don't go for any of that modern marketing stuff. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the neighbors to stop by. Sometimes we spend more time talking about the weather or the temple events than actually selling anything, which is fine by us.
