Ujjwal General Store & Pay Phone

My shop is called Ujjwal General Store & Pay Phone, and you can find us in the Karbigahia area of Kankarbagh, right near the Bank of India. I’ve been here for a long time, back from when pay phones were the main thing people came in for. Now, people mostly come for groceries and household items, but I still keep the phone service for those who need it. It’s a small corner of Patna that stays quite busy because of the bank nearby. We sell all the basics like milk, eggs, bread, and different kinds of snacks. I also keep some stationery and small toys because there are a lot of families living around here. The shop is a bit cramped because I try to fit in as much stock as possible. I don’t really believe in wasting space. My nephew helps me out in the afternoons when the school crowd comes in. It’s a simple business. We open early and close late. Sometimes people just stop by to have a chat while they wait for their turn at the bank. I’ve seen kids grow up in this neighborhood and now they bring their own children to my store. It makes me feel like a real part of Kankarbagh. We don’t have a big marketing plan or anything. We just put the items on the shelf and wait for the neighbors to come in. It’s worked for us all these years. That is how we do things.
