Tanya General Store

Tanya General Store is located on Sher Shah Road in the Mangla Devi area of Patna. It’s a neighborhood shop that has been around for a while, sitting on a road with a lot of history. We don’t sell anything big or expensive, just the general things that people find themselves needing at the last minute. You can find snacks, basic toiletries, and some stationery items here. The shop is quite small, so we have to be clever about how we stack the biscuits and the soda bottles. The front of the store is usually where we keep the most popular items so people can just grab them and go. Sher Shah Road can get quite muddy when it rains in Patna, and we spend a lot of time cleaning the footprints off the floor. It’s a family-run kind of place, so there’s always someone you know behind the counter. We don't have a big staff or any corporate rules; we just open the doors and help whoever walks in. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use a flashlight to find things for the customers, but no one seems to mind. It’s just the way things work around here. We close up once the street gets quiet, usually late in the evening when most people have gone home. We just count the cash at the end of the day and get ready to do it all over again tomorrow.
