Taj Mahal Genreal Store

This shop is situated on Fraser Road in Patna, which is one of the busiest streets you’ll find in the city. There is always a lot of traffic and people rushing around outside. Taj Mahal Genreal Store has been here through many changes in the neighborhood. I remember when there were fewer cars and more cycles. Now, the noise of horns is constant. I spend most of my day behind the wooden counter, waiting on customers who need everyday items. We carry soap, snacks, cigarettes, and all the usual stuff you’d expect in a general store. I try to keep the stock fresh, but it’s hard when the delivery trucks get stuck in the Patna traffic. The shop isn't very large, so I have to stack the crates pretty high. Sometimes I have to use a long stick to reach things on the top shelf. It’s a bit dusty because of all the construction nearby, so I’m always wiping down the counters. People from the offices nearby come in during their lunch break for a quick soda or some gum. I know a lot of them by name now. It’s a long day, usually starting at eight and not ending until late. I don't mind the work, though. It keeps me busy and I like being in the middle of all the action on Fraser Road. It’s just a regular shop doing its thing.
