Subha Laxmi Kirana General Store

Subha Laxmi Kirana General Store is right here on Banasghat Road in Digha. It’s not a huge place, but we try to keep most of what people in the neighborhood need for their kitchens. People usually find us near the water, and we open up pretty early because that is when most folks are heading out or getting their day started. It is a small shop, mostly filled with sacks of rice, different kinds of lentils, and those big containers of cooking oil. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded inside when a few people come at once, especially in the evenings when everyone realizes they forgot to buy salt or sugar for tea. We spend a lot of time just moving things around to make space. It is dusty out here on the road, so there is always a bit of cleaning to do on the jars and packets. We don't have anything fancy, just the basic stuff like soap, biscuits, and matches. The shelves are wooden and a bit old now, but they hold everything up fine. On hot days, the ceiling fan just pushes the warm air around, but we stay here until late. Usually, it is just neighbors stopping by to chat for a minute while they wait for their change. We know most of the people who live around Digha Ghat by their faces even if we don't know every name. It’s just a regular life running a store like this.
