We are up on the first floor of the Twin Tower, which looks right out towards South Gandhi Maidan in Patna. It’s a good view, though usually, we are too busy with the work to look out the window much. The traffic down there is always a mess, so we hear the horns all day long. In this office, we handle the technical side of building and construction. It’s a lot of math and looking at blueprints that are getting old and crinkled. We have a few computers that hum all day and a lot of cabinets filled with records from years ago. Being in Patna, we see a lot of changes happening in the city, and we are just one part of that. We don’t try to act like some big corporate giant; we are just a group of people who know how to put a building together. Sometimes we have to go down to the sites and get our boots dirty, then come back and try not to track mud all over the office floor. It’s a cycle of planning, building, and fixing mistakes. We’ve had the same furniture for a long time and the tea stall downstairs knows exactly what we want when we send someone down. It’s a steady life, just focusing on one floor or one project at a time until the sun goes down and we head home.
