Sinha Kirana

Sinha Kirana is a small place sitting in the middle of Mahatma Gandhi Nagar in the Kankarbagh area of Patna. If you live around here you probably know where we are because we are right on the street where everyone walks to get to the main road. It is a residential neighborhood mostly so we see the same faces every single day from the aunties looking for the best rice to the kids coming in for a small packet of chips after school. The shop isn't anything special to look at but we have the basics like salt and soap and different types of dal that people use for their daily meals. Sometimes the space feels a bit cramped when we get a fresh stock of goods and the boxes are piled up near the entrance. We have a small stool for people to sit on if they have a long list of items for us to get ready. My hands are usually dusty from handling the grain bags but that is just part of the job. Kankarbagh is always growing and there are more cars and bikes now than when we first started out here. We just try to keep the staples ready so nobody has to go too far to find what they need for their house. It gets quite hot in the summer and the small fan we have doesn't do much but we are used to it by now after all these years.
