Shishu Kumar

My name is Shishu Kumar and I run this little place on Dujra Main Road in Patna. We are very close to the Devi Mandir, so you can always hear the bells in the morning and evening. It is a busy part of the Raja Pur Mainpura area. The shop is basically my life. I spend almost all my hours here from early morning until late at night. I sell a bit of everything, mostly stuff people need for their kitchens or their daily lives. The road outside is always noisy with rickshaws and people walking to the temple. Sometimes it gets so crowded that people can barely stand outside the counter. I try to keep things organized, but in a small space like this, it is hard to keep everything perfectly neat. I know most of the families who live down the lanes here. We talk about the weather or how the prices of things are going up. It’s just a normal life running a shop in Patna. I don't have any big plans to expand or anything; I just want to keep the shelves full and the customers getting what they came for. If someone needs something specific and I don’t have it, I usually try to bring it from the main market the next day. It’s just how things work here near the mandir. I’ve been sitting behind this counter for years now, and the view of the street never really changes much.
