Shanti Kirana Store

Shanti Kirana Store is right here on Chandmari Road in the Kankarbagh area of Patna. If you know where the Pani Tanki is, we are just near that. It's a landmark everyone around here uses to find their way. We’ve been operating out of this spot for quite some time now. Patna gets very hot in the summer, so the afternoons are usually quiet while everyone stays indoors to avoid the sun. We use that time to restock the shelves and count what we have left in the back. The shop is small and packed with all sorts of things. We try to keep it tidy but with so many small items coming in, it’s a bit of a constant struggle. The pin code here is 800020. You'll see us opening up early before the sun gets too high and the air gets heavy. Most of our customers are locals who live in the lanes around Chandmari Road. They come in for their groceries and sometimes just to talk about what’s happening in the news or the neighborhood. It’s a very local feel. We don't do any big advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here and stop by when they need something. When the monsoons come, the water sometimes collects near the Pani Tanki, but we manage to stay dry. It’s just how life is in this part of Patna. We do our work, talk to the neighbors, and close up when it gets dark.
