Satya Narayan Stores

Satya Narayan Stores is another one of those shops on Karbigahiya Road in the Chiraiyatand area of Patna. We’re tucked into the 800001 zip code, very close to the station side. The street is always full of rickshaws and people carrying bags. Our shop is simple, filled with metal shelves and wooden crates. We don't spend money on marketing; people just know we’re here by seeing us every day. We sell the usual household stuff, mainly things for the kitchen and daily use. The air in Karbigahiya is thick with the smell of the city and the trains nearby. We spend our afternoons tracking down suppliers or checking the expiry dates on the snacks. It’s not glamorous work. Sometimes the lights flicker when the load is high, but we keep a torch handy. The floor is concrete and a bit stained from years of use. We greet the regulars, talk about the weather or the price of onions, and keep things moving. It’s a small family operation. We don’t have a website or a big plan, just keeping the doors open and the stock ready. Most days are long, but that’s the way it is in Bihar. We close up late and walk home through the crowds. It's just a way to make a living and serve the neighborhood. We have been in this same spot for years and don't plan on moving.
