Sarvodaya Narayan Nidhi Limited is situated right at Bela Bandh Chowk in Jaynagar. It’s a busy corner, and we are right in the thick of it at Ram Anand Yadav’s place. You can hear the rickshaws and the market noise all day long. The office is basically one large room where we keep all the files and the desk. It’s not the quietest place to work, but it’s convenient for everyone who passes through the chowk. We spend a lot of time sorting through papers and talking to people who walk in off the street. There is always someone coming or going. The furniture is mostly old wood, and the chairs are a bit creaky. We don't have an air conditioner, so we leave the windows open to catch the breeze, even if it brings in some dust. Handling the local financial records takes up most of our hours. We don't have a fancy website or anything like that. People just know where we are. Sometimes the power cuts out and we have to wait for the backup to kick in so we can finish the computer work. It’s just how life goes in Jaynagar. We keep the books balanced and make sure everyone’s records are safe in the big iron safe we have in the corner. Every day is different but we just stick to the routine we know best.
