Santosh Kirana And General Store

Our shop is located in Gur Ki Mandi which is a very old part of Gulzarbagh right near the Pitambara Mandir. Being so close to the temple means we see a lot of people coming and going all day long especially on the days when there is a special puja. The shop itself is quite packed with bags of flour and lentils and we try to keep everything people might need for their kitchens in one place. My family has been running this place for years and we have seen the neighborhood change a lot around us. It gets really crowded in the narrow lanes here so sometimes the deliveries take a long time to reach us. We don't have fancy shelves or anything like that just the basic wooden racks and some glass jars for the loose biscuits and candies. Some of the older people in the colony come by just to sit for a minute and talk about the weather or the price of onions while they wait for their groceries to be packed. It is a lot of work lifting the heavy sacks and making sure the accounts are right in the ledger book. We stay open quite late because that is when the office people come back and realize they forgot to buy something for dinner. The lights in this part of Patna can be a bit dim at night but the shop stays busy until we finally pull the shutters down.
