Rameswaram General Store

Rameswaram General Store is located on the New Bypass Road in the New Jaganpura area of Patna. If you know where the Bank of Baroda is at Khemni Chowk, we are right near there. The bypass is always loud with trucks and cars, but our little corner feels a bit more like a community. We opened this shop because there were a lot of new houses being built around here and people needed a place to get their daily supplies. We sell everything from rice and flour to small toys for kids. It is a typical general store with bags and boxes stacked up. Sometimes the dust from the road gets in, so we are always dusting the jars and shelves. We know most of the families around Jaganpura by name now. They come in for a chat while they pick up their cooking oil or soap. The bank being nearby helps because people stop in after doing their errands. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us working the counter and helping people find what they need. It gets quite hot in the summers, but we have a fan that keeps us going. We try to keep our prices fair because we live here too. It is just a regular life of weighing out grains and stocking the fridge with cold drinks for the travelers. We stay open late most nights to catch the evening crowd.
