Raj Kirana is my small grocery shop in Maharaj Ganj, which is part of the Meena Bazar area in Gulzarbagh, Patna. I have lived in this neighborhood my entire life. I opened the shop because I wanted to work for myself instead of someone else. Most days, I am up before the sun to get things ready. I sell mostly daily food items like rice, flour, oil, and different kinds of lentils. The shop is located in a very busy part of Patna, so there is always the sound of horns and people shouting outside. It can be quite a lot to handle sometimes. I don't have a big staff or anything like that. It is just me behind the counter. I know which neighbors like which brand of tea and who prefers to buy their sugar in bulk. I keep a few basic medicines and household items too, just in case someone needs them late at night. The building is old and the floor is a bit uneven, but it works for what I need. I don't do any online sales or deliveries with apps. If you want something, you have to come down to Maharaj Ganj and get it. I like seeing my customers face to face anyway. It makes the long hours feel a bit shorter when you can have a real conversation with someone from the street.
