If you head out towards Rani Talab and find Raghopur village, that is where we are. We are set up at Alok Kumar’s place. Being in a village like this means we are right where the cows are. It is much quieter than the main city of Patna, which is good for the animals. We spend our days mostly in the sheds or out in the fields getting fodder. There is always a lot of mud, especially when it rains, but you get used to it. We aren't doing anything special, just milking the cows and making sure they have water and food. The work starts before the sun is even up. Most of the people working here are from around the village. It is a simple life, really. We have a small office in the village to keep our papers in order, but mostly we are outside. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to do everything by hand, but that's part of living out here in Patut. We sell the milk locally and send some further out when we have extra. It’s just a regular dairy farm. No big machines or fancy technology, just hands-on work every single day of the year. Cows don't take holidays, so neither do we. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. It gets tiring and my back usually hurts by evening, but that is just the way farming goes for us.
