Omkanha Dairy Farm Private Limited is located in the village of Chiraura in Naubatpur, which is part of Patna. The business is run by Renu Devi and her husband Mukesh Sharma. We’ve always had cows around, so starting a proper dairy farm felt like the natural thing to do. Every morning starts very early, around 4 AM, because the cows need milking and they don't wait for anyone. It is a lot of hard work keeping the shed clean and making sure the animals are fed the right mix of fodder. We live right here in the village Tola so we are always on site if anything goes wrong in the middle of the night. Dealing with milk is tricky because it spoils fast, so we have to be very quick with our daily routine and cleaning. We don't have a big corporate office or a fleet of trucks, just our local setup and a lot of dedication to the animals. Some days the cows are stubborn and the work takes longer than usual. We aren't trying to sell anyone a dream, we are just selling fresh milk to the people in the area who need it. It’s a simple, honest life in Naubatpur and we are happy to be part of the community here. The kids help out after school when they can. It’s just what we do to get by and we just focus on getting the work done right every single day.
