We set up Jyotdeep Mutual Nidhi Limited right here in Marwan Bhoj, which is part of the Bandra block in Muzaffarpur. The office is actually located at Mala Singh’s place. It’s not a big corporate building with glass windows, just a simple spot where local people can come by when they need to talk about their savings or small financial matters. Most of the folks who walk through our door are neighbors or people from the nearby villages who we see at the market every week. Being in Bihar, especially in a place like Muzaffarpur, you get to know everyone pretty well. We don’t have fancy receptionists or coffee machines. If you come by, you’ll probably find us sitting around a wooden desk with some registers. It gets quite hot in the summers, so we usually have the fan going full blast while we check the paperwork. We started this because people in Marwan Bhoj needed a place close to home. Traveling all the way to the main city just for small bank work is a lot of trouble for most people. Here, you just walk in, say hello, and get things sorted. It’s straightforward and honest work. We try to keep the records straight and help whoever comes in from the village. There isn’t much more to it than that. We are just local residents trying to keep things running for the community here in our little corner of Bandra.
