Being over here in Patna near Dighaghat is different. Our spot is right by Gate No-88 in Makhdumpur. If you know the area, you know it gets quite dusty when the wind picks up. We spend most of our time at this address handling the logistics for infrastructure projects around Bihar. The office is pretty basic. We have some plastic chairs and a big table where we spread out the site plans. It’s a lot of talking to drivers and making sure the cement bags are stored correctly. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside for a bit. There’s a lot of activity near the railway gate so it’s never quiet. We have been here for a bit now, working under the name Ijm India Infrastructure Ltd. Most of the guys here are local. We eat lunch together and talk about how the roads are holding up. It’s hard work and the days are long. You won’t find any fancy brochures here. We just focus on the task at hand which is usually getting materials from one place to another without too much trouble. The address is easy to find if you tell the rickshaw driver it’s near the gate. We are just a group of people trying to keep things on schedule. It isn't perfect but we get the job done and go home tired every single evening. There is always more to do tomorrow.
