Gupta General Store

Living and working in Patna has its own rhythm. Gupta General Store is located in Telegraph Colony, specifically at Quarter Number 7. We are in the Kidwaipuri area, which is a fairly well-known part of the city. If you are looking for us, we are near Dr Subash Prasad’s place. The store is basically a part of the residential block here. It’s not like those shops on the main high street with big glass windows. Here, it’s more about being convenient for the people living in the colony. I spend my mornings checking the inventory that came in the night before. Patna can be very humid, so I try to keep the fans going. The space is a bit cramped because I try to stock as many different things as possible in a small area. People from the nearby quarters drop in at all hours for little things they forgot to buy elsewhere. It’s a very local feel. I know the kids who grow up in this colony. Sometimes I’m just sitting there listening to the radio while waiting for the next person. There’s no fancy marketing or big slogans here. It’s just 800001, a busy corner of Kidwaipuri where I’ve spent many years behind this counter. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but the shelves are always full of what people actually use every day. It is just a regular life in a busy city.
