Golu Kirana Store

My shop, Golu Kirana Store, is located at Gangahra Niwash in Basant Bihar Colony, right on Boring Road in Patna. We are pretty easy to find since we are opposite the Tapshaya Complex. I’ve lived in this city all my life and this store is how I spend most of my hours. It’s a basic grocery place where you can find the things you need for your kitchen every day. I stock plenty of lentils, rice, and cooking oils. The space is a bit cramped because I try to keep a lot of variety. There are boxes stacked in the corners and packets of snacks hanging from the ceiling. Boring Road is always busy, so there is a lot of noise and movement outside. I usually open up early before the traffic gets too bad. People stop by on their way to work to get small things like cigarettes or a packet of biscuits. I handle all the orders and the cleaning myself. The floor gets dirty pretty quick with people coming in and out. Sometimes the electricity goes out and I have to sit in the dark for a bit until the power comes back. I have a notebook where I keep track of what needs to be ordered next. It’s not a fancy job but it keeps me connected to the community. Most customers are people I see every single day. I just try to keep the basics available and the price fair for everyone.
