Dhangay General Store

Dhangay General Store is located in the Salimpur Ahra area of Patna. We are very close to the P M C Hospital, which defines a lot of what goes on around here. Because of the hospital, there’s always a crowd on the street outside. We see a lot of different people every day—doctors, nurses, and families visiting patients. Our shop carries a wide range of general items because you never know what someone might need in a hurry. We have toiletries, snacks, bottled water, and basic stationery. It’s a very fast-paced environment. I don’t have much time for long chats because there’s usually someone else waiting in line. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling with stock. I have to use a small ladder to reach the things on the top shelves. It gets quite noisy with all the ambulances and traffic, but you get used to it after a while. I keep the store open long hours because the hospital never sleeps, and people might need something late at night or very early in the morning. It’s a small brick-and-mortar place with no fancy decorations. We just focus on having what people are looking for when they step off the busy Salimpur Ahra streets. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside when more than three people enter at once, but we make it work. We’ve been part of this Patna neighborhood for quite a few years now.
