Our dairy is located at 1/A, Durga Vihar, which is right on S P Verma Road. It’s a busy corner in the Kadamkuan area. If you’ve ever been stuck in traffic on Ex Road, you’ve probably passed by us without even noticing. The workday starts really early here, usually while it’s still dark outside. That is when the milk containers arrive, and we have to get everything moving before the sun gets too high and the heat starts causing problems. It’s a lot of heavy lifting, moving the cans and making sure the cooling system is running like it should. We aren't a big corporation with lots of suits. We’re just regular people in boots trying to keep things clean and efficient. The floor is almost always wet from the wash-downs. We spend a lot of time checking the fat content and making sure the milk is fresh for the morning deliveries. It can get pretty loud with the vans coming and going, and the neighbors sometimes complain about the noise, but that’s just the nature of a dairy. We don’t do much advertising because most of the local shops already know where we are. It’s a simple business, but it’s important. We take pride in the fact that our milk ends up in so many tea cups around Patna every single day. It’s hard work, but we’re used to the routine of it. We just keep our heads down and work.
