We've been at this spot in Kankarbagh for a while now. The address is 8 Mig Lohianagar. Most mornings, the oven gets turned on pretty early before the sun is even up properly. It gets warm in the back, especially when the fans aren't doing much. People usually stop by on their way to work or when they’re picking up stuff for the kids. The street outside can get a bit crowded with scooters and cycles around midday. We try to keep the shelves stocked with whatever we managed to bake that morning. Sometimes we run out of things faster than we expect, and other times we have too much left over. It’s just how it goes here. The paint on the front door is starting to peel a bit, but we haven't gotten around to fixing that yet. Most people know where we are because of the smell of sugar and bread that hangs around the corner. If you’re coming from the main road, it’s just a short walk in. We don’t have fancy seating or anything like that, just a counter and some glass cases. My cousin helps out on the weekends when it gets a bit busier. We usually close up once it gets dark. It’s a quiet life for the most part, just making sure the dough rises right and the oven stays at the right temperature. We've seen a lot of neighbors grow up and bring their own kids here now.
