Bablu General Stores

Bablu General Stores is located on Kadamkuan Road in Patna, Bihar. I am the one people call Bablu, and this is where I spend all my days. The shop is at 800003 and it’s been here long enough that the walls need a new coat of paint. I sell general items, mostly things for the house like buckets, brooms, and small hardware pieces. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes because Kadamkuan Road is so busy and people are always asking for different things. I have shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. I use a small ladder to reach the stuff at the top. The street noise is constant in Patna, but I’ve gotten used to it over the years. I don’t have any big signs or bright lights. People just know where Bablu is. I keep a radio on the shelf playing the local news. The floor is mostly covered in boxes that I haven’t had time to unpack yet. I usually eat my lunch right there at the counter. It’s not a corporate business, just a man and his store. I help people find what they need even if it takes a few minutes to dig it out. Kadamkuan is a good neighborhood for a general store. Most of my customers are my neighbors. I don’t have a computer system, I just remember the prices in my head.
