Axtell Tuition Centre

Axtell Tuition Centre is situated inside Kalyani Apartment, right at the Langartoli Chauraha in Patna. If you know that intersection, you know it stays very busy with traffic and people moving about. We are in one of the flats there that we converted into a study space. It’s actually quite nice because once you get inside and close the door, the noise from the chauraha fades away a bit. We’ve been helping students here for several years. It started with just a couple of us teaching math and science to a few neighbors' kids, and it grew from there. Now we have students coming from different parts of the city because we are so central. The rooms are a bit tight when we have a full class, but we make it work. We have desks crammed in where they fit. We don't really have a lobby or anything, so the students usually just come right in and find their spot. It’s a very informal place. Sometimes we have tea while we go over the lessons, especially during the winter months when it gets cold. We focus a lot on the board exams because that’s what parents are most worried about. It’s a lot of repetition and going over the same chapters until they stick. We aren't trying to be the biggest centre in Patna, just a reliable one where kids can actually learn something useful without any of the extra drama.
