Arati General Stores

Arati General Stores is on Saidpur Road in Patna. This area in Bihar has its own slow pace of life compared to the big cities. Our shop is one of those places where you can find a bit of everything if you look long enough through the aisles. We have the usual household items stacked up, from cleaning supplies to cooking ingredients and snacks. The building itself is nothing special to look at, just a plain storefront with a metal shutter that we roll up every morning. Inside, it’s a bit cramped because we try to fit as much stock as possible into the small space we have. The light isn't very bright inside, so it feels cool even when it's very hot out on the street. We spend a lot of time talking to the neighbors who stop by for a chat. In Patna, people like to talk, so a simple trip to buy some salt can turn into a ten-minute conversation about the local news or the latest rain. We have a small wooden desk where we sit and wait for the customers to come in. Sometimes the kids come in after school looking for small snacks, and the place gets a bit loud for a while. We don't have any fancy computers, just a calculator and some pens. It’s a straightforward way to run a business. We know where everything is.
