Ajit Kirana And General Store

We are right here near the Mahatma Gandhi Setu bridge in the Dhankai Imli area of Naya Gaon. It gets pretty loud with the trucks passing by to the bridge but we have been here in Gulzarbagh for a good while now. Most days it is just me and my brother behind the counter while customers from the surrounding houses come in for their daily things. It is a simple kirana shop really. We have the usual stuff like different kinds of pulses, rice, and those big containers of cooking oil that people always need. In the mornings it is always a bit of a rush when the milk arrives and everyone wants their packets at the same time. Sometimes the fans don't work well when it is hot outside but we manage. We know most of the people around here by their names and what they usually buy before they even ask for it. It is not a very big space so we have to stack the boxes all the way up to the ceiling sometimes. There is always a lot of dust from the road but we try to keep things as clean as possible for the folks coming in. It is just the way it goes here in Patna, busy and a bit messy but we keep moving. We spend a lot of time weighing out sugar or packing salt into smaller bags when it gets quiet in the afternoons before the evening crowd starts coming back from work.
