Over on Bazar Samiti Road in Patna, you’ll find Active Academy. It’s in the Active Building, right across from St. Thomas High School. Umesh Kumar started this place because there was a need for a solid coaching center in the Rajendranagar area. We aren't a big corporation or anything like that. It’s just us working with students who want to get ahead in their studies. The building is usually buzzing with activity, especially in the afternoons when the school across the street lets out. We deal with all sorts of subjects. Some days it’s quiet and everyone is reading, other days it’s noisy with discussions. We don't use any complicated teaching methods. We just sit down with the books and go through the lessons until they make sense. The neighborhood knows us well by now. We’ve seen many batches of students come and go through these doors. Some of them still stop by to say hello when they are in the area. It’s a practical place for learning. We don’t have fancy lounges or anything, just classrooms where the work gets done. If you are looking for us, look for the building opposite the high school. We are usually there from morning until late, making sure everything is ready for the next set of students. It’s just hard work and being consistent every single day for the local students. There are no shortcuts here, just plenty of reading and practice to get through the year.
