Abhay Kirana

We are located in the Raja Bazaar area of Patna, specifically in Sheikhpura. Abhay Kirana is the kind of place where things are always moving around. If you know this part of Patna, you know how the traffic can be on the main roads, so the shop feels like a little bit of a familiar corner for everyone nearby. We stock the usual things people need for their kitchens like different kinds of dal, rice, and oils. The bags are heavy and sometimes the floor gets a bit of flour on it when we are measuring things out for customers. It is a simple setup with wooden racks and sacks sitting on the ground. There is no air conditioning here, so in the summer months, it gets quite stuffy inside while we wait for the evening breeze. Neighbors come by to pick up their weekly supplies and usually stay for a minute to talk about the weather or the price of onions. It’s not a supermarket where everything is wrapped in plastic; it’s more about the bulk stuff and the loose items. I spend a lot of time checking the stock to see what is running low. Sometimes the delivery truck gets stuck in the narrow lanes, and we have to carry the crates ourselves. It’s just regular work that keeps us busy from the morning until we pull the shutter down at night. We’ve been at this Sheikhpura location for years and the shop has become a bit of a second home for us.
