Prosadpur Primary School

Prosadpur Primary School is tucked away in the Shahi Samadhan area of Patiala. The pincode is 147001. This is a very old and historic part of the city, with narrow streets and a lot of local shops. Our school is a small place because we only deal with primary-aged children. The building is an older structure that fits right in with the surrounding houses. We have a central courtyard where the kids gather for their morning prayers and for their lunch break. It gets very lively with all the shouting and playing once the bell rings. We don’t have much in the way of modern equipment, just the basic desks, chairs, and blackboards. The teachers are very patient with the little ones and they spend a lot of time on reading and writing. Most of the parents work in the nearby markets and they often stop by to check on their kids. Shahi Samadhan has a very close-knit feel, and the school is a big part of that. We don’t have a website or any glossy brochures to show off. We just have our classrooms and a small office for the paperwork. Sometimes when it rains, the water collects in the narrow lanes outside, but the kids always find a way to get to class. It is a simple, honest school where we do our best with what we have. Every day is different when you are working with such young children in this old part of Patiala.
