Patiala Taxi Stand

Patiala Taxi Stand is situated on the stretch from the Bus Stand to Mall Road. We are right near Tehsil Cinema Number 19. There is also a fatak nearby, which is the railway crossing. Anyone who lives in Patiala knows how much time you can spend waiting at that fatak when a train is coming. We are right in the middle of all that action. When the movie lets out at the cinema, it gets very busy around here. We have our taxis lined up and we wait for the passengers. It’s a lot of sitting and talking with the other drivers while we wait. We drink a lot of tea from the local stall nearby. The Mall Road area is one of the nicer parts of town, so we see a lot of people out for walks or shopping. Our business is simple. We provide cars and we drive people where they need to go. We don't have a fancy office building with air conditioning. It’s more about the stand and the vehicles. We know every shortcut in the city to avoid the traffic when the fatak is closed. It’s a tough job sometimes, especially in the heavy rain or the summer heat, but we’ve been doing it for many years. We just try to be fair and do our work every day. It’s a regular part of life for us here near the cinema and the crossing.
