Indu Bala Ahuja Architect is located right opposite the British Co-Ed School on Lower Mall. It’s a nice spot, though it gets quite busy when school lets out and the kids are everywhere. Our office is a straightforward place. We don’t have any fancy signs or a big marketing team. It’s just us working on designs for houses and commercial buildings. We’ve been at this location for a good while, so most people in this part of the city know where to find us. Usually, our day starts with checking the drawings from the day before and seeing what needs fixing. We spend a lot of time on the phone with contractors or talking to clients about where they want their windows. It’s not always glamorous work. There are a lot of rules to follow and permits to figure out. We keep things pretty simple here. We have our desks, our computers, and a lot of half-empty cups of tea. Sometimes the office gets a bit cluttered with rolls of paper and old files, but we know where everything is. People come to us because they want a design that makes sense for their life. We don't try to push anything too crazy on them. We just listen to what they need and try to draw it out as best as we can. It’s a quiet, steady kind of job.
