Ganesh Hardware

Ganesh Hardware has been sitting here in the University area of Patiala for a while now. Being so close to Punjab University, we see a lot of different people coming through. It isn’t just builders; sometimes it is students needing something for a project or staff from the campus. Patiala is a good place to work, though the traffic near the university can be a real headache during the afternoons. Our shop is filled with the usual things you’d expect—pipes, tools, and cans of paint. It’s a bit cramped inside because we try to keep as much stock as possible in a small space. You have to watch your step so you don’t trip over a bucket or a coil of wire. I usually spend my mornings checking what arrived on the truck and my evenings tallying up the books. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s honest work. We don’t use any big marketing tricks. We just sit here, wait for someone to walk in, and try to find the right part for them. Sometimes the tea stall next door brings us a cup and we take a ten-minute break. That’s about as exciting as it gets. We know the people in this tehsil pretty well, and they know us. If you need something fixed and you’re near the university, you just look for the Ganesh Hardware sign. It’s a dusty place but we know where everything is. We hope to stay here for many more years.
