Chamanpreet Kaur Architect

I am Chamanpreet Kaur and I run my architecture practice from my place at 2, New Defence Colony. It is out on Patiala Road in Mohali. It is a nice area, though the road can get really packed with trucks and buses headed out of town. I started working from here because it was easier than commuting into the city center every day. My office is basically just one room filled with my computer, a printer, and way too many books about design and building codes. I spend a lot of my time talking to contractors and trying to make sure they are following the drawings I gave them. It can be frustrating when things don't go according to plan on the site. I work mostly with residential projects, so I spend a lot of time talking to families about how they want their homes to look. It’s a lot of listening and then trying to put those ideas onto paper. Sometimes I work late into the night when it is quiet and the traffic on Patiala Road has finally died down. It’s just me doing the work, from the first sketch to the final check-up. I don't have a receptionist or anyone like that, so if the phone rings, I’m the one picking it up. It is a simple way of working but it lets me stay close to the projects I'm doing in the Mohali area.
