Boparai Gurkanwal Singh Architect

I've been working out of H.No.27B in Hira House for a while now. Most people around Hira Nagar know the spot because it’s where I keep all my drawings and tools. Architecture is a slow process, honestly. Some days are just spent staring at a blank sheet of paper or a screen until things start to make sense. Gurkanwal Singh is the name on the door, but it’s mostly just me and a few others trying to figure out how to make buildings work for people. We don't have a big fancy lobby. It’s just a room with desks, some rolled up blueprints, and a lot of coffee cups. People stop by to talk about their houses or shops they want to fix up. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to say hello or ask about some construction down the road. It gets a bit messy during the busy months when three or four projects are happening at once. You can usually find me here from early morning until late evening. The light in Hira Nagar is nice in the afternoons, which helps when you're trying to see the fine lines on a plan. We try to keep things simple and just focus on the job at hand without making it more complicated than it needs to be. It’s a lot of back and forth with contractors and trying to find the right materials that aren't too expensive. That’s just how the day goes here.
