Shankuntala Cotton Mills Private Limited

Kuldeep Singh runs things here in Pathankot. We are located at house number 686 in Sialin Kulian. It is a quiet area mostly, but the cotton business keeps us on our toes. My father, Balved Singh, started things and we just keep it going. The mill is where most of our time goes. We deal with a lot of raw cotton coming in from the fields. It gets busy during the harvest season. Punjab is good for this kind of work. The roads in Ward 19 can be a bit narrow for big trucks, but we manage. We aren't a giant factory with thousands of people, just a local mill trying to do the job right. Sometimes the machines act up or the power goes out, which is just how it is here. We spend our mornings checking the quality and the afternoons dealing with transport. It’s a lot of manual work and we get our hands dirty every single day. There is no fancy office here, just a desk and some chairs where we sit to talk to the farmers and buyers. We’ve lived in this area for a long time, so everyone knows the house and the mill. It’s practical work. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. Just us working and making sure the cotton gets where it needs to go.
