G L Handloom

You can find us right at the Post Office Chowk, which is in the middle of the Main Market. We are very close to the actual post office, so it is a spot that most people in town know well. G L Handloom is a small shop, and we have packed it full of all sorts of fabrics and traditional items. The shelves are overflowing with different colors and textures, and it can be a bit of a squeeze when there are more than a few people inside at once. We spend our days unfolding cloth and showing it to anyone who wanders in from the market noise outside. It’s always busy on this street with people shopping for their homes or just passing through. We don't do any big advertising or anything like that. We just open the doors in the morning and wait to see who comes by. Most of the stuff we sell comes from local weavers who have been doing this for a long time. It is a simple way to run a business, and we like the direct connection with the people who use the fabrics. Sometimes the market gets overwhelming with the heat and the crowds, but being right here at the Chowk is where we belong. We keep things honest and just show what we have on the shelves. It’s a steady life and we’ve been at this same spot for many years now.
