Sakhi Fashion Boutique

Sakhi Fashion Boutique is our little shop in Pullukulangara, Alleppey. It’s a beautiful area to work in, though it gets very hot in the afternoons. We opened this boutique because we wanted to bring some nice designs to the women in our neighborhood. We carry sarees, kurtas, and some custom-stitched pieces too. The shop isn't very big, but we’ve filled it with as much colorful fabric as we could. We spend a lot of time talking to our customers about what colors suit them or what style they need for a function. It’s not just about selling clothes; it’s about the chat and the connection. Sometimes the delivery of new stock gets delayed because of the rains, which is quite common here in Alleppey. When that happens, we just have to wait it out. We don't have any fancy marketing strategies. We just put a sign out front and hope people like what they see in the window. My sister and I run the place, and we often have our friends dropping by for tea while we work. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere, maybe a bit too relaxed sometimes when we have a lot of tailoring to finish. But we always get it done eventually. We love being part of the community in Pullukulangara and seeing people wear our designs around town. It’s a small business but it’s ours, and we take pride in doing things our own way without all the corporate fuss.
