Our place is at Plot No. 69 in Gidc Shivpur, which is part of the Patan district. If you’ve ever been to this GIDC area, you know it’s mostly warehouses and small factories everywhere you look. K. M. Spices is just one of those places. It’s a lot of work handling the spices. The air is always thick with the scent of whatever we are processing that day. Sometimes it’s cumin, sometimes it’s something else entirely. It gets really hot in Patan during the summer months, and the tin roof of the plot doesn't help much, but we have our fans going and we just get on with it. We aren't some big brand you see on TV or in magazines. We are just a local operation that supplies what people need. We know the other business owners in Gidc Shivpur, and we often help each other out if a truck gets stuck or someone needs a hand with unloading. It’s a tough job sometimes, lifting heavy bags and staying on your feet all day, but it’s honest work and it pays the bills. We don't have a fancy office with leather chairs and carpets. We have plastic stools and a wooden table where we eat our lunch and have our tea. That’s how we like it. We focus on the product and the people we deal with every single day. It’s about being practical and staying grounded.
