Out here in Chaksimuliapo, things move a little slower than in the big cities. We are located at Harendar Nath’s place in the village of Kumarchak, which is under the Nandakumar police station area. It’s a quiet spot, mostly fields and small houses around us. We spend a lot of time just talking to the villagers about what they need. Some days it’s about farming, other days it’s about getting kids into school or helping someone with a medical bill. We aren't doing anything flashy. It is just a few of us in a small room with a couple of chairs. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the files get a bit messy. The weather gets really humid here and that slows everyone down, but we keep the doors open. People just walk in when they have a problem. We don't have any big meetings or speeches. We just listen and see what we can do with the little we have. It feels right to be working where we grew up. You won't find us on any fancy maps easily, but if you ask anyone in Damodarpur, they can point you to the right house. We just want to make the day a bit easier for the people living nearby. It’s hard work sometimes, but it’s our life and we don’t mind the long hours at all.
