Priyadarshini Variety Stores

Our store is in Laro village, right near the Nedhua Bazar post office in Sabang. It’s a typical village shop where we keep a bit of everything on the shelves. You can find things for the kitchen, some basic medicine, and snacks for the kids. People from the village stop by throughout the day, often just to chat for a minute while they buy their groceries. We have a small porch out front where people sometimes wait out the rain. The building is simple, with wooden shelves that we built ourselves years ago. It’s not like the big supermarkets in the city; we know everyone who walks through the door by name. Sometimes we run out of something and have to wait for the next delivery truck to come through Paschim Medinipur. The floor is concrete and we sweep it out every morning before opening up. We have a refrigerator for cold drinks, which is popular when the weather gets hot in the summer. It gets dark early out here, so we have a couple of bright lights inside. It’s a family-run place, and we’ve lived in this village our whole lives. There isn't a website or anything like that, just the shop at the corner of the road near the market. We just try to keep the essentials in stock for the local families. We usually close for a bit in the afternoon to eat lunch.
