Gilani Supar Market

Gilani Supar Market is out in Khasarhati. It sounds like a big name, but we are just a local place in the village. Debra is the nearest police station, and Sharpur is our post office. Most of our customers are farmers or people working nearby in Paschim Midnapur. We stock a lot of things because there are not many big shops around here. If someone needs oil or sacks of grain, they come to us. The building is simple, just bricks and a tin roof that gets loud when it rains. We spend our days chatting with the elders who sit on the bench outside. Life moves a bit slower here than in the cities. We have to travel a bit to get our stock from the main distributors, which takes up a whole day sometimes. My son helps with the heavy lifting now that I am getting a bit older. We do not bother with fancy advertisements. Everyone in the village knows where the Gilani shop is. We have had some tough times with the weather lately, but we keep the doors open. We keep a ledger for the regulars who pay at the end of the month. It is a matter of trust out here. We just want to make sure the people in Khasarhati have what they need for their kitchens without having to travel too far. We are just regular people trying to make a living and help our neighbors get their groceries.
