U B Engineering Ltd. is based at Plot No.-31 in the Kalyanpur Housing Estate in Asansol. Being in a housing estate means our surroundings are pretty quiet most of the time. You might hear kids playing outside or someone’s radio, but it’s a nice change from a loud industrial zone. Our office is a functional space. We do engineering work, so the tables are usually covered in large drawings and technical manuals. It’s not the neatest place you’ll ever see. We have pens and rulers scattered everywhere. We’ve been at this Asansol location for many years, and the building shows its age a little. There are some cracks in the plaster, but it doesn’t bother us. We’re more interested in the projects we’re working on. Most of us are local people from West Bengal, so there’s a lot of Bengali spoken in the office. We drink a lot of tea throughout the day to keep ourselves sharp. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy slogans. We just talk to our clients directly. If there is a problem on a job site, we go out and fix it. That’s just how we operate. We don’t need any polish or corporate talk. We’re just an engineering firm doing our bit in Asansol. It’s honest work and we’re happy with that. It keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday.
