Tea Bazar

My shop, Tea Bazar, is right here in Ranitala, near the Kulti police station area in Asansol. I’ve been sitting behind this counter for years now, watching the traffic go by. Most days start early with the shutter going up and the first few regulars coming in for their packets. It gets dusty out there on the road, so I’m always wiping down the shelves. We have different kinds of tea piled up in bags and boxes everywhere. It’s a small place, so things get a bit crowded sometimes, especially when a new delivery arrives from Burdwan. I handle most of the bagging myself. People stop in on their way home from work to grab what they need for the week. I don't really have a big staff, just a couple of us making sure everything is in the right spot. The floor is concrete and showing its age, but it does the job. Sometimes the tea dust makes you sneeze if you aren’t used to it. I know most of the faces that walk through the door by name now. We don’t do anything fancy with packaging, just plain bags and a quick chat. If the power goes out, we just light a lamp and keep going. That’s just how we do things here in Kulti. It’s simple work, keeping the community supplied with their daily tea.
