We are tucked away in Kishnapur, right near the football ground where kids play most evenings. Shib Pada Baidya’s place has been our base for a while now in Ward 28. It is not some fancy high-rise office, just a practical spot in Polenite Mission Para where we handle all the Santimata Exim Llp paperwork and calls. Some days are really busy with trucks coming through, and other days we just sit with a cup of tea and plan out the next week’s shipments. You can hear the cheers from the ground when there is a match going on. It makes the workday go by faster. We started this because we knew the local trade routes well. It is a family-style environment here, mostly. We don’t have big meetings with fancy slides, we just talk over the desk and figure out who is doing what. The neighborhood is pretty quiet otherwise, except for the occasional festive noise or the local market crowd. We’ve stayed in this part of Kishnapur because everyone knows where the football ground is, so it’s easy for people to find us. Dealing with import and export means a lot of waiting on documents, but we’ve got a good rhythm down now. It’s just us doing our thing in this corner of the world, making sure things move from point A to point B without too much fuss or delay. It’s a lot of hard work but we like the routine.
