About Gnit Foundation – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in Paschim Bardhaman
Our small office is located at Chinakuri 2Pits, near the PGPT Mess and the Durga Mandir, in Sunderchak. It’s a busy area with a lot of history. The Gnit Foundation started because we saw how many retired workers and their families were struggling around here. Being near the pits, it’s a working-class neighborhood. We try to help with basic things like healthcare check-ups or getting kids ready for their exams. It’s not a shiny new building; it’s an old place that’s seen better days, but it serves us well enough. We have a lot of tea and talk to whoever walks in. People usually come by after they visit the Durga Mandir. We don't have a big board of directors or anything like that. It’s just a few of us who used to work in the area and wanted to stay active. Sometimes we organize a small clean-up of the local area or help someone navigate the paperwork for their pension. It’s often frustrating because things move slowly, but we don't give up. We’ve lived in Sunderchak a long time and we know how things work here. It’s just about being a good neighbor and helping out where the system fails. Nothing more, nothing less. We don’t have much in the way of funding, so we just do what we can with the little we have. It’s a quiet way to spend our retirement years, helping out our old friends and their families.
